Great Grandfathers handmade cherry rocker

As received with fabric back and seat and extensive damage.

When the upholstery was removed it was discovered that the chair had originally been caned.

Stripped, sanded and partially reassembled

Shown being reattached after structural repairs to fix splits and fill tack holes.

Right arm reinstalled

A large section of the lower end of this arm had been broken away and lost. It was rebuilt, shaped and reattached.

Chair fully reassembled

This photo shows the chair back together, sanded and ready for staining.

The chair is shown with a cherry aniline dye stain and single coat of tung oil finish.

Chair completed and awaiting caning

The chair was finished with 3 coats of hand rubbed tung oil.

Chair recaned and ready to be returned to client.
