Stone Bridge High School presented its first annual "Antique Road Show" November 23, 2002
Demonstrations
Richard Patnoe demonstrated and held a question and answer session on how to take care of and restore antique furniture.
Shellac finishing a 1930's mantle clock
Waterbury mantle clock with poplar case. The original finish was ruined by attic storage (heat did it in) and it is being redone with dark mahogany
aniline dye and 15 coats of orange flake shellac.
My better half helping out
My charming and lovely wife came by to help out and provide moral support. (She brought me my lunch, too).
On our demonstration booth
As part of the event I provided a live demonstration of repair and refinishing of three projects:
Sanding, staining and shellacking mantle clock. Steelwooling and polyurethane coating oak dining chair. Dismantling and repairing maple/wicker rocker.
